The documents listed below are from the Great Lakes TURN (Teacher Union Reform Now) conference. Communities of Practice: Implementing the Common Core in Schools and Classrooms in Chicago, Illinois on July 9 - 10, 2013. The desired outcomes for the conference were:

• Develop a deeper understanding of the CCSS - the instructional shifts, assessments, pedagogy, content mastery and professional development required to successfully implement the CCSS in schools and classrooms.
• Develop an understanding of the action plan components needed to implement the CCSS effectively in schools and classrooms
• Develop and refine a team action plan to support the CCSS implementation in classrooms, schools and districts.
• Begin to develop communities of practice to support the implementation of CCSS
